Description

The second part of spells chart for Vrilia, my Thornhound character.
The first part: [link]
The character ref chart: [link] [link]

Made in accordance with [link]
Software used: Blender v2.49b & Gimp.

Here you can see Vrilia proudly displaying her Phantom Horde.

The descriptions in the picture are shortened, you can find longer ones below:

- Shadowmeld: this evidently works the better, the darker it is. It is a special kind of invisibility, which makes Vrilia really hard to notice. It works by diverting onlookers' attention away from the Thornhound, the effect is similar to the blind spot in the eye.
However, it can be "broken" if Vrilia does something so profoundly noticeable, that the witness won't be able to ignore her anymore. A technical device which displays the view of surroundings with little delay, such as digital camera, could be used to reveal her location as well.

- Summon Mist: a derivative of Shroud, simply creates some mist. It can create "spooky atmosphere" or elliminate direct light at a very little cost in terms of focus, which in turn improves spellcasting conditions considerably. It works mostly by rapidly decreasing the temperature, so it needs fairly high air humidity to work at all.

- Phantom Horde: this doesn't work in bright, direct light at all, but is more effective than Shadowcaster. It creates a "copy" of the Thornhound, which looks like made of black smoke, with glowing eyes.
However, this copy is much harder to control. It's completely immaterial and lacks a will of its own, so it has to be directly controled all the time. Vrilia needs to remember even such things like keeping the phantom at a correct ground level, so it doesn't appear to walk in the air or below the earth surface. Of course, such control can be trained to become automatic and it should enable Vrilia to summon several phantoms at once.
As it's mostly an optical effect, the phantom possesses no attack skill. However, some tentative steps towards using psychokinesis suggest that in time Vrilia may yet make the Phantom Horde a really horrifying ability.

- Reversal: this is an undeveloped skill that has yet to evolve into something practical. It makes Vrilia's thorns emit a weird "anti-radiation", which reverses light and shadow in nearby area. Everything touched by this radiation looks completely dark, but opaque objects seem to block it and cast bright, glaring "antishadows". It is unknown what the final purpose of such spell can be.
